Our principles
Mentra AI is built on a simple principle: your learning data belongs to you. We collect only what we need to provide a personalised learning experience, we never sell your data to third parties, and we give you full control to review or delete your information at any time.
What we collect
- Account information: Your name, email address, and role (student, parent, or teacher).
- Learning profile: Year level, subjects, curriculum, learning goals, and preferred explanation style.
- Learning activity: Tutor conversations, homework scans, assignments, study tasks, quiz results, and progress data.
- Usage data: How you interact with the app, used to improve the experience.
How we use your data
- To personalise tutoring, homework guidance, and study recommendations to your level and learning style.
- To track your progress, confidence, and mastery across topics over time.
- To provide parents with weekly progress summaries (Family plan only).
- To send study reminders and notifications you've opted into.
- To improve our services and develop new features.
What we don't do
- We never sell your data to advertisers or third parties.
- We never share individual learning data without your consent.
- We never use your conversations to train public AI models.
- Parents see progress summaries, not private tutor conversations or answers.
Children's privacy
For students under the age of digital consent in their country, we require verifiable parental consent before AI features are activated. A parent or guardian receives an email to approve the account. Children's data is treated with extra care — we minimise what we collect and never use it for marketing. See our Child Safety page for more details.
Data retention & deletion
Your learning data is retained while your account is active. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings. Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.
Your rights
- Access: View your learning data from Settings.
- Control: Review or reset your learning memory anytime.
- Delete: Delete your account and all data permanently.
- Export: Request a copy of your data.
